RoHS - Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations
Under EU directive 2002/95 the placing on the market, within the
EU, of electrical or electronic equipment with more than agreed
levels of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium,
polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and polybrominateddiphenyl (PBDE) is
prohibited.
The regulations set out by the EU for monitoring and control
equipment have an exemption under EEE category 9 and therefore
Apollo Fire Detectors does comply with the RoHS directive.
The exemption exists as it is believed that there has not been
enough research into the long term effects of lead-free solder and
its resistance to its installed environment and therefore the risk
of curtailed lifetime and increased probability of failure on
demand.
