Apollo Fire Detectors prove logistically perfect for Disprofarma
Apollo fire detectors have been specified to protect one of the
largest logistics centres to be built in Argentina.
The 28,000m2 warehouse is being constructed for Disprofarma SA,
the leading distributor of pharmaceutical products in the country.
The company is located in Buenos Aires and annually distributes 100
million units of medicines nationwide, across a territory of
3,761,274 square kilometres, with a population of 37 million
inhabitants.
The contract to supply the fire detection system was won by
Isolse, Apollo's representative in Argentina . The system is based
on Apollo's open digital protocol and will incorporate in excess of
1,150 XP95 analogue
addressable fire detectors and ancillary devices.
Phil Walford, Apollo's Sales Manager for Argentina , comments:
"This is a significant project for both Apollo and Isolse. We are
delighted that Disprofarma has chosen our fire detection technology
to protect its products, its plant and its people."
Installation is taking place in two phases. The first phase, to
protect the main storage area, has already been installed by
Isolse. It is centred around two networked, eight-loop FireSense
control panels and a full command repeater panel.
There are currently 22 beam detectors (100m) situated to protect
the upper level and 400 XP95 smoke detectors to protect at racking
level. The system also includes manual callpoints, and sounder
beacon bases, plus 32 mini switch monitors that integrate signals
from the extinguishing system. Phase II will involve the
installation of a further 700 devices to protect associated offices
and laboratories.
